Cannot create a chart in PP. When Started, from the insert chart etc, it can
be worked on, but when finalizing or completing the insert by clicking
outside the chart area, it just disappears?

Do you get any error messages?

Could you tell us a bit more about your set-up?

Specifically, are you working from a computer that has restricted rights
(usually controlled by your IT department)?

What version of PowerPoint?
What version of Windows?
Have you applied the latest updates to both?

Are you running Norton anti-virus with office plug-in activated?

After you click out of it and it's disappeared, can you still select the
chart on the slide?

I suspect it's really still there, but it's invisible. If that's the case,
try changing your hardware acceleration. (Instrux at

Hello Bill:
I am not using a restricted site or computer.
PowerPoint ver 2002, Office 2002 X
XP Pro operating system.
Updates SP2 all current
Norton Corporate Anti virus, tried on or turned off,
Office Plugins, I am not sure what setting?
Regards,
George

Hello Echo S:
Have changed the acceleration to one position frm right, as default.
Did not change the effect.
The chart object is the only one on the slide, which is a new blank slide,
and when the chart is finalized, or one clicks off the slide, the chart or
graph object vanishes and is not saved anywhere in the slide.
Regards,
George

So after you click off the graph, it's not there at all?

I'd still try turning hardware acceleration clear to the left and see if
that helps you see the chart.

If not, try disabling the Norton plug-in using the technique described here:
