Character to prevent rows from printing

There was a neat trick in Lotus 123 that allowed you to place a "|"
(shift-\) in the first position of a row that was in a print range. If that
character was there the row was not printed.

Is there any similar character or technique to prevent rows from printing
without hiding them.

Excel does not have this feature but you may have a look at the

I like to apply Data|Filter|autofilter to the range and just show what I want to
print.

Then Data|Filter|showall to see everything.
