I have XP Home OEM installed on a single HDD, and am wanting to install a
second HDD, and set up a Raid 0 array. Obviously I will have to reinstall XP
Home. What do I need to do here to make sure everything comes out right? Do
I have to go through the installation process, and reenter the activation
key? Can I just make a copy of my hard drive, and try installing it?
Setting up the actual array is the easy part, apparently.

Asumming you have SATA hds both being identical, install new hd solo, boot
to BIOS,install xp cd,select in BIOS for this,press F6 for drivers,after
select
recovery,in recovery forget the text that apears just type:DiskPart In
DiskPart,
create a partition,then press ESC key,then type:EXIT Power off
computer.Install
other SATA drive, repeat above but select,"install xp" at xp cd menu screen,
delete partition, create one, then let xp format and install. Also, youre
current hd
must have same partitions as other,if not, solo it thru DiskPart.

I know how to set up the Raid array, that wasn't my question, the question
was about reinstalling XP Home OEL on it, when it is already currently
installed in the drive. Since setting up the array will wipe out all
information on the current drive, I will obviously have to reload it. My
question was mainly about making sure I can do so. Oh, well, since I need to
do it today, I probably won't get an answer in time, but it was worth a shot.
I'm just going to reinstall everything like I had originally thought I would
have to, and just hope that I can reactivate the OS.

okay, I misunderstood, but I do want to say that I don't want to create any
partitions. The idea is to creat 500 GBs of free space in a single drive
using a Raid 0 array on two identical 250 GB SATA HDDs, thus no partitions.

If you can create the raid, you can reinstall win, assuming retail version
and not an OEM version that may be locked to sys

I did say that it is an OEM version.

Not all OEM versions are locked.
Though even a locked version shouldnt be a problem provided mobo is origonal

It is all seperately ordered parts that I put together. None of it is from
any proprietary computer. I constructed it a few months agao, and now I want
to upgrade the hard drive to the 500 GB Raid 0 array.

Then connect your hw and proceed with array config and o/s installation.
You may have to use F6 option during o/s installation to install third party
(raid driver).
If you have to activate and online activation doesnt, use phone method an
explain youre just reinstalling after a raid reconfig

PS Not all raid controllers would require you to reinstall the o/s in order
to create the raid, some can build the raid on the fly. You would have to
read your raid documentation to know if yours supports this.
