changing the letter of a system disk

How can I change the letter of an active (system) disk D (which includes
image), to become C , and parallelly change the letter of disk C (which
includes XP Proffesional) to become D.

Please take a look at the [HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices] key. You will have to
set it up properly (probably just swap the GUIDs between C: and D.
