HELPPPP!!!!

I've tried to go through the 'internet properties'
section of the tools menu, but the address box is still
greyed in with the MSN homepage. How do I open that up
to set my own homepage?

Also, my new XP won't allow me to browse on AOL. I've
tried changing the firewall settings to allow AOL
programs, but that hasn't helped.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey,
Download the MS antispyware beta program and do a browser restore....It
should be under advanced tools.

About AOL, try reinstalling it.

is the MS antispyware beta program on the XP website?
and what does that have to do with changing a homepage?

Spyware may make a Registry change that greys out the button to set your homepage.
Scroll down this web page:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers.htm
and read about home page hijacking.

If you use SpyBot Search & Destroy, the features in its Immunize module may also
cause this symptom.

I'd avoid MS AntiSpyware at present. It is still a beta and should be
treated as such; i.e. it can be dangerous on a production machine. Use at
your own risk. Personally I can't leave it installed even in test
environments.

For IE. depends on how it's locked. Fire up Spybot, enabled advanced view,
go to the tools section and click on IE tweaks. See if you can do what you
need there.

As for AOL, try the uninstall reinstall route first. I'd need more detail if
that fails.

Sorry for the delay. As Walter mentioned, Spybot> Mode menu> Advanced, then Tools>
IE Tweaks> uncheck the "Lock IE..." boxes there.
