Changing the Color of Desktop Icons...

Rob

I just changed my wallpaper to one with a mainly white
background, and the color of the font under my icons
continues to be white with that black shadowing, which
makes things a little hard to look at.

I went into Display Properties > Appearance > Advanced
and selected "Icons" from the "Item" list, but it won't
let me change the color of the font for those icons. I
can change the font itself, and the size of the font, but
the box for color remains grey and won't allow me to
select it.

How can I do this?

Thanks.

Anando, I'm having the same problem as Rob and your
solution does not do any thing, Please help

Hi,
Try to disable the Desktop icon drop-shadows. To disable desktop icon
drop-shadows, right click on my computer and select properties. Flip to the
advanced tab and click on settings under performance. Scroll down the list
of visual effects and uncheck "Use drop shadows..."

Worked perfectly.

Thank you!
Rob.

.

Of course, that also adds the ugly blocks of color behind all the icons'
text.

If my memory serves me right, it used to be possible to change the color of
icon text using the third-party utility "WindowsFX", from Stardock. I'm not
sure this is still possible with the current version.
