changing sequence of photos in folder

I have a folder of photos that I edited and I am trying to change the sequence in which the photos appear. I have tried moving them within the folder, but when I view them they are back in the original sequence in they were loaded into the PC. Example, photo #4 needs to be resequenced after photo #12. When I move it by drag and drop it seems OK, but when I view the folder the sequence has been restored to it's original sequence

Right-click within the folder, then select "Arrange Icons By" and choose
your sort criterion.

Thanks Rich. I was trying that earlier but was doing somrthing wrong. Thanks again for the help

Rich I had this same problem for a while then I realized that I had to rename all of the files so that the alpa-numeric system would display them the way i want them. here is my method

sequence the images the way you want them in thumb nail vei
go to the top left image and highlight or select it with one clic
then sellect allor shift sellect the bottom right image this sellects all images in the fil
then on the top left image right click and sellect rename then rename as follow

the computer will then rename all sellected or highlighted files in sequense left to right, top to botto

this is the easy way for me because I do not need a discription of the picture in the name
if you need a full name you can go and rename the image as you se fit however mak sure that the number stays in tact or the image will move position.
