Changing Outlook from Exchange Server

We are getting rid of several PC's. We use Exchange
Server but need to remove this from Outlook profiles on
those PC's and change them to normal e-mail.

Most have gone OK, but some we are having problems with ..
old mailbox still there and cannot delete it, others get
warning message that not set up correctly "go to services,
delete account and reset up" but the services option is
not in the Tools tab. Been a long time since I set
Outlook up so am probably doing something wrong and
desperately need help here!

I have even tried uninstalling/reinstalling outlook and
even office!

What version of Outlook? If using OL2000 or earlier, it's tools | services.
Later versions - it's tools | email accounts.

My preference would be to go to control panel, mail, and delete/recreate the
entire mail profile.....

Not sure what "normal" email is... :-)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It is tools/services, but on the
exchange mailbox I want to remove it doesn't give you the
services option. (I get a shorter pull down menu when
clicking on Tools). You cannot open the mailbox as it
doesn't exist, but the name is still at the top of the
folder list - and you get a warning message when in
Outlook that your account is not set up correctly, delete
and reset up.

As the PC's are going to be given away I would ideally
like to remove all reference to our users and have outlook
open as it does the first time on a new PC for the new
owners to set up their own e-mail.

I have tried setting up 'dummy' e-mail accounts, but same
problem.

Normal e-mail .. hmm, not sure myself :) that's the
problem I can't remember if I add Internet Mail to the
profile or just personal folders or what! I know I
remove Exchange Server, just not sure what I replace it
with! Adding Internet Mail requires you to add e-mail
addresses and POP etc, which I don't want to do as they
will need to be changed by the next user.

Hope this makes sense ... Brain dead at the moment,
sorry!

Did you check in control panel/mail? Are you using Corporate/Workgroup mode
in OL2000 or prior, or internet mail only mode?

Are you giving away your Windows and Office licenses too? You have to if
you're not going to wipe these computers entirely....
