Is there a way that I can change the listed items in the "look in" area of
the dialog boxes (such as "open", "save as", etc? I never use the "recent"
icon and would like to change them to more relevent locations. I can change
these in MS Word so there must be a way to change them for general use.
Thanks!

It's called the Places Bar in the Common Dialog box. Yes you can edit
the five listed, but can't have more than five. The easiest way is to
download and use TweakUI, one of the MS powertoys. Get it from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Run it and expand the Common Dialog section to get to Places Bar. Make
the changes you want.
