I bougth a new laptop with the Dutch version of XP Home pre-installed on it.
Along with the machine, a French and Englisch recovery version 2002 of XPH
was packed.
What will happen when I "recover" the machine with the Enlish version, will
alle settings return to default and will I have to reinstall programs like
NERO etc.?

Greetings

Greetings

It really depends on what's on the Recovery Disk; however, most Recovery
Disks are an image of the computer as it came from the factory. If Nero
wasn't preinstalled, then you'd need to reinstall it with the
installation media. Ask the laptop mftr. your question or read the
manual. There should also be information on the laptop mftr.'s tech
support website.

A recovery CD returns the machine to the condition it was in when you
brought it home form the store. That means that any programs you have
installed and any data you have put on the machine since bringing it
home will no longer be there.

If you recover from an English language CD, I'd assume that you would
then have an English language version of the OS on your machine.
