i just wondered if, once i've set up my laptop to connect to the internet
through another firewalled pc, do i need to run a firewall on the laptop.

i ask because my laptop firewall is not YET letting e access the other pc
until i relax the restrictions.

will it be safe with the laptop firewall disabled?

thanks in advance

A personal firewall on each computer, when all are connected to a LAN behind a
router, is an essential component in a layered security strategy. Any firewall
that can't be configured to allow file sharing between 2 computers is one that
you don't need. Get another, or configure this one properly.

Well Kerio is an excellent free personal firewall, and thousands depend upon it.
The folks in the firewall forum should be able to help you sort it; if not, come
back here.

Thanks for your time, Chuck, it all boiled down to not having the correct
settings for Netbios in my trusted zone.

Simple when you know how!

Seasons greetings!
