can anyone tell me how to change my display name that
shows up when sending out an email (name on the 'from'
line) ....ie if it reads johnsmith/kellysmith....I would
like it to drop the johnsmith and keep the kellysmith.
I'm sure it's simple, but I can't seem to do
it.....Please help!

OK, then, click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next, select your account, and click
Change. Put the value you want in the "Your Name" box.

I'm on a network so its shaded, let me guess, I can't change it myself can I?
Thanks for the help, by the way :)

Hi!

I have tried that, but the name in the "name" box is not
what appears on the "from" line in my messages.

Are you connected to an Exchange server in a corporate environment? I am,
yet I can send a message from any address I want. The Exchange server
handles all our mail, including the SMTP mail from the non-Windows platforms
here (Solaris, some Linux systems, OpenVMS) and so offers an SMTP server. I
created a POP account that uses the Exchange SMTP port as the outgoing
server. The account never checks for incoming mail, so the incoming POP
server is garbage. When I want to change my address, I just use that
account. The Exchnage server doesn't validate outgoing addresses.

What type of account? How do you know what's in the "From" field?
