Changing Music Files Format

I have alomost 2 gigs of music stored on my hard drive,
mostly in "WMA" format. The music that I downloaded was
stored in "MP3" format. How do I convert all my files
to "MP3" format, for less disk space usage and copy to
cd's. I need to restore my hard drive and do not want to
lose my music. I do not have an extra hard drive big
enough and I do not have enough cd-r's to burn to. How
cam I compress this much data in order to take up the
least amount of disk space.

Hi, a file compressed in the WMA format is going to be smaller than a file
compressed with the MP3 format. If you wish to recompress the WMA's to
MP3's you will end up with a larger file size and reduced sound quality.

WMA at higher bitrates (i.e. better sound quality) will take up less space
than MP3 at the same bitrate.

I see you are the same person who replied to my other
posting. No sense in carrying on duplicat conversations
so I will abandon this newsgroup and stick with the
other. Thank You for your help.

There are plenty of free utilities out there, no reason to steal from the folks behind cool edit. they make a good product though and you should consider buying the full version
