Changing Format of a Field

I am importing a file using a macro. I am then trying to change the format of
one of the fields to percent with one decimal.

Is there a way to do this using VBA or a macro?

I prefer creating a table with the right structure as I like and need.

After I import a field, I use an append query to insert all the records to
the my table.
That way I don't need to change the structure every time
