My bank merged with another and in July changed the
name. Since then, I cannot access my account online.
HELP! The problem seems to be that although I am the
Administrator (we're using XP Home) I am unable to change
the firewall rule -- the slots are foggy and can't be
changed. Does anyone know how to get around this? I do
have Norton products on this system but they aren't
really working so I'm relying on the installed firewall.
I'm not very techie and could use some help. Thanks.

I assume you're talking about the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF).
Please explain why your bank changing its name requires you to change your
firewall settings.
Has your bank admin suggested this need?
Unlike some other firewalls, ICF does not prevent outgoing connections, so
you wouldn't need (and actually you can't) to add any special setting for
the bank's web site.
The settings that come by default with XP, indeed, can't be altered, however
it's unlikely that you'd need to turn them on unless you were hosting some
big services (eg, a personal web server, or e-mail server)

I'd take a look to your web browser (IE?) security settings for the
solution, rather than the firewall. Hopefully all you have to do is add the
bank's web site to your list of trusted sites.
