I'm an idiot... in setting up my email settings tonight I was to answer
questions about the servers for incoming and outgoing email. I answered
incorrectly and nothing works. I have the correct answers now and need to
know where to go to change POP3 and SMTP answers....

Where do I go to change these..?

In Windows Mail, click Tools on the main toolbar and then select Accounts.
In the accounts window click on the name of your email account and then
click the Properties button. In your email account properties window, Click
the 'server' tab. You can make the changes you require from there.

Thanks. But now... I incorrectly identified my server as an IMAP. It turns
out to be a POP3. The dialog box won't allow me to change that... any ideas
how I can do that.?

If you have all the detail required, then remove the faulty account and
start again.

Okay so deleting and reconfiguring the mail client might work, but is there a
better solution? I've got thousands of emails and it takes a lot of time to
download them all again.

No, don't delete the mail client, just delete that one account in Windows Mail.
If you want to save any emails, bulk-move them to a different mail folder, then
move them back once the account is recreated.
