Hi guys,

xl97. How can the default font & pitch (Arial 10)
for textboxes or shapes be changed?

TIA
Max

There are two textboxes. One from the drawing toolbar and one from the
controltoolbox toolbar.

I put a textbox from the drawing toolbar on a worksheet. I entered some text
and then right clicked on the textbox border and chose Format text box. One of
the tabs was Font where I could the work.

(I could also highlight the text within the textbox and rightclick and choose
format text box. Only the Font tab appeared--where I could do the work.)

When I put a textbox from the control toolbox toolbar, I could show that
toolbar, click on the design mode, rightclick on the textbox and choose
Properties. There's a Font property that you can change from the properties
dialog.

Dave, a big thanks for your response!

I was refering to the default font/pitch of
textbox/shapes drawn from the drawing toolbar
(apologies for not mentioning this in my post)

The defaults were Arial 10. I was wondering whether one
could somehow change this default font/pitch
whenever new textboxes/shapes are drawn,
(instead of having to right-click and change *after* drawing)
in the same manner as the setting provided for worksheets under
Standard Font/Size in Tools > Options > General tab

Any insights whether this is possible?

TIA
Max

I just tried changing the font in the textbox from the drawing toolbar and then
rightclicking and choosing "set autoshape defaults"

It didn't save the font settings for the next textbox I added.

But maybe you could add the first textbox, then format it the way you want.
Then just copy that one to subsequent locations.

Thanks for the insights, Dave.

Yup, I'm doing just that right now
- add 1st textbox - format - copy
(and I'll continue with this .. )

cheers
Max
