Changing colors of individual records

I would like to color code my records. Is there a way to have different
colors for different records? Whenever I try and change the color it applies
to the whole database.

Details please. Do you want to color records based on some part of the
record? All negative numbers are red, for example?

Or, do you want to randomly set the color. Have you tried adding a new
field to set the color. For example, add a "category" field, then use
conditional formatting to set parts of the record to a specific color based
on that entry. Or write code to color the background.

Lots of options, but we need more details. Also, you did not say where you
want to do this. In the tables (you can't), queries (you can't), forms, or
reports?
