Hi All. Decided after had an XP crash to take the step of
adding a new larger HD, make it the primary master and
loading another copy of XP. This way,I was happy with
getting a big drive, clean install, etc. Did this all
fine, changed the old primary master to the slave and off
we went. Formatted the new drive and installed XP Home.
But, the new drive has been given the letter G as its
allocation. Now, I can change the allocated letter of any
of the other drives by using the computer management
facility in the administrative tools which is accessed
through the control panel, but I cannot change the G to C
even though I have changed to old C drive to another
unused letter and C is now free for use again.

Can anyone help me with a way to do this? I would prefer
a software option, but I could I suppose go back a couple
of steps and disconnect the old C drive, reformat the new
one and then reinstall XP. Would that allocate the letter
C back to the new drive, or not?

Thanks for any help offered.

With the/a new drive, you need to set as master and unplug
the other drive, leaving only the cdrom or cdrw installed, unplug
everything else, printers, modem, even the graphics card and use
