I have Windows XP Pro and I bought a new disk, I used a Disk to Disk Copy
Program to copy the partition from the old disk to the new one (the only
difference between the disk is the speed, they are the same size, bench,
everything is the same but one is 5400rpm and the other 7200). When I change
the boot order to boot from the new one (everything should be exactly the
same) windows starts but freezes in the "Welcome" screen, the mouse works
fine but no error message appears, nothing appears.

The same happens if I try to start in "Safe mode" or any other mode.

If I change the boot order to boot from the old one everything works fine.

I tried to do an image with Drive Image and restore to the drive but the
same happens.

Does anyone know how to solve my problem? (without erasing and reinstalling
windows).

Thanks in anticipate.

Gabriel

Just for your infomation... The same thing happened to me.
I went ahead a re-installed Windows setup, then the drive
did boot ok with all the files intact. There may be
another way I'm not aware of! Good luck!

I have the same problem right now. I used Ghost 2003 and
it get to screen with light blue background with just a
windowsXP logo on it where welcome screen should be with
the users listed. I can go back to old disk and boots
fine.

I think MS has an issue here?
