I am completely new to networking and have been trying to find out these
things from MS Help but so far no good. I am directly connected via a cable
to my other PC.

Does a shared Folder (or whatever) only appear on the other PC after it has
been rebooted, or how long does it take?

If a doc file is updated will the changes appear in the shared doc, if not
what to do?

Can you just delete a shared folder and send again?

What kind of cable?

Immediate.

Yes.

You don't generally send. You Copy or just leave in original location.
