To access broadband thourhg a local machine our network
people suggested I change the domain name to mshome. Now
I cannot log on the machine.

It does not ask for a domain name (because it is part of
a workgroup) and if I try a dial up log it it will
register the computer then fall back to the logon screen
and fail the login.

Can anyone help? Is there a way to switch the
domain/netowrk back to the orginal domain for validation ?

That was bad advice. I see no reason why you would have to do that at the
machine level. Those kind of settings are usually done at the nat router
device. You need to log on with the local administrator account/password and
be connected to the domain controller for the domain to change it
