Change the default setting in Insert/Textbox

I'm making a company template and would like to change the inserted textbox
to our chosen size and font. Is that possible?

Hello Glenna and thanks for quick response. I've tried to find an answer on
echosvoice before, and now I've looked and looked again - not sure if I've
blind or lobotomized... I want to "reprogram" the Insert/Textbox function,
not the deafult textbox that comes up on every new page. That I know how to
change on the master page.

Select the text tool and click anywhere in an empty area on the master slide and
go to Format > Font. Make the settings you want and check the box that says
"Default for new objects". That should do what you want.

Unfortunately, I think the only defaults you can set for the text box is the
color, lines, etc., not the text. You might be able to do it with VBA, but
I'm not skilled enough to tell you how.

Sorry,
Glenna

It worked actually! The deafult text box from Insert/Textbox is now 14p! I'm
so pleased. Only need to work out now if it's possible to take it one step
further, and have a second level text with bullets, and a third with dash
(it's possible now, but I need to change it every time to have the type of
bullet and space I want, and I'm after an automatic solution to save people's
time...)

Taking a clue from Sonia; set up the text box the way you want, then click on
the outside edge to select the entire box. Click on format, font, (don't
change anything) and check the box that says Default for New objects. Worth
a try.

Go to the Slide Master and in the text placeholder select the bullet level that
you want. Go to Format > Bullets and Numbering and click on Customize. Set the
bullet character you want and OK your way out. Then go to Format > Font and
make your font settings. Do the same for all of the levels.

The right-click/set autoshapes default should get you where you need to go
for the basic textbox. It should set font size/color, fill, lines,
linespacing, bullets if you want 'em, etc.

But you can't set the various bullet levels in the textbox. You'll have to
train your users to use the slide layout with the double-bulleted list
placeholders. Or maybe look into Steve and Brian's Shapes/Styles Add-in.

Also, after you've set your auto textbox, you'll want to draw an actual
autoshape (rectangle, oval, etc.) and reset its autoshape defaults, too.

Do the following in this order:
1. Right-click the textbox and choose "set autoshape default."
2. Right-click one of the autoshapes and choose "set autoshape default."

It's a little bizarre, but just trust me that you want to set the autoshape
default on the textbox first. Then you want to reset the actual autoshape
default.

Don't *even* ask me how long I mucked about with that one day!
