Change the default chart patterns?

Is there a way to reset the automatic colors and patterns the Excel
Chart Wizard uses? I'm tired of having to change the pastel colored
lines and markers to black one data series at a time, each time I make
a plot that I want to print.

Thanks in advance

Hi, there are several ways to do this.

1. change the default colours in the workbook (tools, options, color).
This will only apply to the current workbook, but if you record your
keystrokes, you can replays the macro with new sheets.

2. Record a macro as you format a specific chart with the line, bar etc
appearance and configuration you want. Replay the macro when you
create new charts.

3 Probably the best way - if you always want to use a similar format,
save a chart with the format you want as a user-defined type by
clicking Chart, Chart type, Custom types, User- defined, Add and typing
a name. If you usually want to use this format, set it as your default.

Go to Tools/Options/Colour tab. Click on the chart
fills/line colour that you want to change, and then click
on the modify button and choose the colur that you wish to
replace the default with.

Hope this helps
