I have XP Pro, and I have 2 users set up, "Dan" with admintrstor
priviledges, and "Dannykewl" as a limited user, to log into if I don't feel
safe about doing something from my Dan admin. account. Neither are password
protected. I want the computer to automatically boot into Dan, without
having to choose a name at start up, and when I need to switch, do it by
Switch Users. Also, presently, when I computer is idle for more than about 3
minutes, I am again taken to the login screen to choose a user. I'd like to
stay in the user I'm in until I decide to switch, so how do I change that to
either a longer time or turn it off? I have my screensaver set for 15
minutes, so the user screen when 3 minutes idle don't seem to work in tandem
with the screensaver. Hopefully if I can boot directly into Dan, I won't
need to worry about the 3 minute idle prompt, but I should know just in
case. TIA,

Dan

Thanks Kelly, I'll give this a try,

Dan

Hi Dan,

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Right click the Desktop/Properties/Screen Saver tab, look at the options
for your Screen saver and also Uncheck the "On resume, password protect"
option.

Also in the Monitor Power settings using the Power button. Look on the
Advanced tab, and the Options section, uncheck the "Prompt for password when
computer resumes from standby" option.
