In the Task Manager the link speed shows 11 Mbps for my
NIC but I have a T1 and so only can use 1 Mbps. I want to
change the disply for the link speed, under the networking
tab, so the graph shows my actual connection, not the
speed of the NIC.

I know I could use a third party app, but I do not want to
load anything except the minimum on my machine to assure
the maximum speed.

Any help would be appreciated.

You cannot!. Basically, you PCs connection speed IS 10Mb/sec to the Local
Area Network. Ther fact that you have a different speed for connection to
the Internet is immaterial. However, if you have uPnP enabled, I think that
a separate "NIC" shows up as "Internet Connection"

As a corrolorary to my previous post, go into Start/My Network Places then
click "Show Network Connrections" There should be a conectoid called
"Internet Connection" Left-click and going proerties and select "show icon
in notification area when connected"

Do the same to you NIC but deselect the icon bit!

That will have the effect you want
