Hello all

my laptop Dell Latitude D600 has set many devices to IRQ11 and by this mony
of them are not working anymore, i have tried to change IRQ settings but
this optoin has been deactivated. please help me this is really very
important.

Thanks in Advance
Ibrahim

If that Dell notebook is ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power
Interface) compliant, then it's normal for devices to share IRQ's. If
by some chance the PC was installed as a Standard PC then it may
have issues with not using the APIC to extend the IRQ range to 23.
Check your Device Manager, Computer category and repost which
driver or HAL is used.

Thanks for the quick response
I have checked the device manager and actually my laptop has ACPI, but I
still have this non working devices which are by the way (USB ports and
Bluetooth adaptar) IRQ11 is shared between all usb interfaces ,my display
adaptar, Smatcard reader and my network adaptar. is that normal??????????

Thanks a lot for any help

To some degree that sounds correct, except I would not expect to see
so many primary devices all on the same IRQ. You need to run the XP
tool MSInfo.Exe. Expand the Hardware Resources category, then the
Hardware Resources and finally the IRQs sub category. Note the highest
number IRQ and repost. (It will either be 15 or 23).

They are 15

Something is way wrong, even for the Round Rock, Texas gang.

That notebook D600, is a Centrino which almost certainly uses
a chipset that includes an APIC (Advanced Peripheral Interface
Controller). This extends the IRQ range to 23. No wonder it is
having a bad PC day. You really need to investigate the Device
Manager table and see if you have an "Other" category. It sounds
like some of the Chipset drivers aren't installed or configured
properly. You also need to check and see how many revisions
down your BIOS firmware is from the latest available on Dell's
website. Now that you've located the issue, you'll likely have to
spend some time getting correct drivers and this issue may need
a "Repair" installation of Windows to correct.

Thanks a lot, I downloaded all drivers and repaired windows xp but i still
have the same problem, this is really making me sick please help

Still have those same devices on IRQ #11 and none up to 23 ?

Sorry, I thought sure those steps would get your issues resolved.
Can you check Device Manager, System Devices and see if you
have an SMBus controller listed ? Also, the identifier for the Intel
PCI Bridge ( will be something in the order of 8280....)

I'll go back and pull the specs on the damn Dell D600 and verify
what hardware is in the thing.

thanks i'll check too and get back

Not a lot - I did have occasion to check 7-9 different notebooks
on the IRQ mapping. Most all have a APIC that extends the IRQ
range. However, I did encounter two notebooks that didn't have a
IRQ extender and like yours had most all primary devices ganged
up on IRQ #11. This is almost an issue that warrants a Remote
Assistance to actually try and find the problem. Without access to
the PC, I'm not really able to suggest another course of action.
