Change in installation procedure -- Why?

I've been installing XP Pro on several computers, starting with a new hard
drive each time. For some reason, I was not asked about my networking or
user options during this last install. Also, when XP Pro booted for the
first time, it asked that I log in as Administrator right away. Normally,
Administrator doesn't even show up as a choice when logging on the "new" XP
way. Was my install corrupted somehow this time around?

Thanks,
j

Sounds like you performed a "repair install" rather than a
"clean install".

I don't know how that could have happened. I had a brand new, blank hard
drive, that had to be formatted for NTFS, etc. Unfortunately, now I can't
seem to boot off the XP CD again. There doesn't appear to be an opportunity
to get into the BIOS. Any other ideas?

Oops... nevermind... I found out how to boot from the CD from the Dell site.
I guess I'll just start over again and see what happens...

Thanks,
j

Hello,
You get the administrator logon if no other accounts are created during
setup. Since that is the only account you are prompted for administrator to
logon until you create another account.
You can also get this if you join a domain during setup.
I think there is also an option to change the behavior so that this is the
default via an unattended selection.
Thanks,
