You will need to keep Outlook Express for your newsgroups.

So I assume you are talking about email on Outlook.

With Outlook open: Tool - Options - Other and check the 2nd box will make
it your default email browser. But you also have to put in your email
accouts:

Tools - Email accounts.

OE is complicated because of the 5 deep menus, but the help file is good.

Ultimately, you may also want to import both your address book and stored
emails from OE.

Go to Control Panel and double click Internet Options.
In Internet Properties, click on the Programs page.
In the E-mail drop down box change the listed program to
Microsoft Outlook.
Click OK.

Good luck

It's a snap! Just install Microsoft Outlook (usually along with Office), and
then open up Microsoft Outlook.

It'll prompt you to chose if you want it to be your default mail handler.
Accept that.
Then it'll prompt you to do a first time set up. Deline that (cancel).
Then go to File > Import and Export. Choose "Import Internet Mail Account
Settings" and it'll guide you through importing your settings from Outlook
Express.

If you want to import your mail and address book from Express, just repeat
File > Import and Export, but choose "Import Internet Mail and Addresses"

No, do NOT import OE mail from within Outlook, EXPORT it FROM OE. This is
because Outlook uses the Modified date field for many message operations,
and if you import mail from within Outlook, the Modified Date is changed to
that of the date of import.
