Change folder looks

We have a folder we share on a network. I work on that folder for others to
see my work. Is there any way to change the way the folder icon looks (change
color, have a label on it, etc) so it is clear that the files in it are final
or not?

For example, Make the folder red until I have final versions of the files in
the folder, and then make it green? Or change the icon itself? Or have text
on the folder icon? or any other way?

Select the folder, right click and select Properties and then the Customize
tab. You should see options for Folder Pictures and Folder Icons.

There is no way for the folder to read your mind and know whether the
files inside it are finished documents or not. Why not create two
folders? You could put your works-in-progress in one and the finished
files in the other.

If you revise files on a large scale (many files and or people changing
files) you may want to look into using Change Management Software.
