I have two hard drives a 10 gb and a 120 gb. I have xp installed on both.
The small one is marked C:\ (its also the system drive) and the large one id
D:\ (its also the boot drive). I want to make the big hard drive C:\ and the
system and boot drive and i want the other one to have xp for a backup OS.
How can I make this change. Oh and for some reason if i disconnect the small
drive in my computer the comuter will not boot up to the other drive.

what is pri master, sec master, pri master, sec master?
Can you dual boot now?
post c:\boot.ini and D:\boot.ini
You have functional OS on "C" drive?
You have functional OS on "D" drive?

Roughly I would say put "D" drive in as Pri Master and "C" drive in as pri
slave.

Ensure bios boot order is set to boot HD(0) ie old "D" drive.
ensure jumpers for master slave are set properly.
Old "D" drive set as master, old "C" drive as slave.

The computer won't boot to your second drive because it is set as 'slave'
rather than master. The BIOS looks for the master drive first. if it can't
find the master it doesn't boot.
Set your second drive, drive D:, as Master and the first drive, drive C:, as
slave. The pc should then boot directly from the D: drive (it will be
renamed C:) and your smaller drive will then become D:

You can use the information in the link below. It is not easy to do what you
want to do.
I would add a new partition before the current partition on the large drive,
then clone the 10 gig drive into the space. This would keep the registry
setting from being broken when the partitions drive letters change.
Remove a dual boot.

I agree with John. You probably didn't change the jumpers on the back of
the drive.
