Change default format mid-stream"...?

Howdy,

Suppose I have my default format for outgoing messages set
to HTML...

Then, as I compose an outgoing message, I realize that for
the particular recipient, I need to send Plain Text.

Is there a way to format that message as Plain Text before
it is sent?

Are the methods the same for OL2000 and 2002?

Mark the recipient as only able to receive plain text in their contact form.

Thanks for the suggestion, but in many of these situations
the person is not in my contact list.

Might there be another way?

You will need to use the Format menu to change it.
