I added a second hard drive. My drive letters are C: -
first hard drive, D: - CD burner, E: - DVD burner. It
will only let me name the new hard drive F:. I want the
new hard drive to be D:. How do I change the drive
letters on the CD and DVD?

Move the CD burner to F:, freezing up that letter. Then assign the drive
to D:

Hi, That is my question, how do I 'move the CD burner to
F:'? I can see how to change hard drive letters but not
the CD or DVD letters.
Thanks

Hi, That KB article tells how to deal with hard drive
letter assignments, I can do that, but it will only let
me assign F: or above because D: and E: are taken by the
CD & DVD. I want the second hard drive to be D:. How do
I change the CD or DVD letter assignment?
Thanks

To change a drive letter:
1.. Right click My Computer.
2.. Click Manage.
3.. Click Disk Management.
4.. Right-click the CD-RW drive.
5.. Click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
6.. Click Change.
7.. Click the drive letter.
8.. Click OK.
9.. If you had My Computer open before you started these steps, ensure
that you close it, and then reopen it to view the updated drive letter.

Hi, I can't do #4 because the CD & DVD drives don't show
up in Disk Management, only the hard drives show up there.
