Change boot options

I am in the process of reinstalling my OS. While backing up all my files onto
an external hard drive, XP asks me to insert a floppy disk so that it can
create a boot disk. I do not have a floppy drive for my laptop (who does
these days?). How can I change the settings to use a cd, or a flash drive?

Thank you for your help!

Use a different back up method. An ASR backup is not really what you
want here, just use the Backup Wizard (instead of the Autamated System
Recovery Wizard) and backup the files that you want to keep.

Don't use Backup. Just copy the files you want to save to the external hard
drive. Or copy ALL of the files, then sort it out later. You're not going to
want to restore a full backup to your fresh new system, anyway.

You're using Windows ntBackup with ASR, and it *requires* a floppy disk.
There are no settings to change, it's a requirement. You can attach a USB
floppy, or use another backup app that does not require a floppy.

Also, in this context, you're backing up way more than you need to, and
recovery with ASR probably REALLY isn't what you want to do.

There are many better choices and better ways to do this. Copy the files
manually, use the Acronis TrueImage trial, etc.
