CF boot problem

How do you partition and format both cards? Use fdisk and format from DOS to make it more reliable for boot. Then just xcopy your
XPe image to the prepared card.
This can also be automated so you won't need ghost at the end if that was the reason you have chosen it.

When you say it can't boot - what exactly happens? Do you see ntldr menu if you have non-zero timeout set in boot.ini?

We bought some 1G and 2G CF, only Lexar CF can boot XPE or Win2k, but
Sandisk Utra II can't boot, does anybody has same experience?

What caused this and can we make it to boot? (I did run bootprep to prepare
it or try to ghost a good image into it, but all failed)

Through I was able from Sandisk Ultra II, I wasn't able to mark it as
nonremovable disk. I asked Sandisk for the utility and they said that it
is not possible with this card.

KM,

I want to use the component you've recommend me EWF for CF, but the
readme file says to add Enable Auto Layout componnent to the image.

I've even lowered the minimum visibility in the registry and I can't see
this component. What is this component and where can I find it ? (I'm
using SP2 ..)

thanks,

Petr

In SP2, there is a new component that contains the Enable Auto Layout
registry keys: Background Disk Defragmentation Disable
