cell navigation with arrows

for some reason, I no longer am able to navigate through a spreadsheet by
using my arrow keys. This is especially annoying since I no longer am able
to use the CTRL key and select multiple cells with the arrow keys. I've
looked everywhere I can think of where there may be a setting controlling
this but I cannot find it. Does anybody know where to look to fix this
problem? It's driving me nuts not being able to move with the arrow keys!

Could it be that your scroll lock button is on?

You may want to post what's happening when you use the arrow and ctrl-arrow
keys.
