I am trying to delete files on this cdrw and then update
with new. It keeps telling me that I need new files and
it won't let me delete. What am I doing incorrectly.
Thanks. Also what is the difference between cdr and cdrw

I'm not sure about the first part of your problem. But
cdr's are disks that can be written to once only once
formatted. Cdrw's are disks that can be written to,
erased, and then written to again. Of course, this means
if there are no problems.:)
Wished I could be of more help.

You can't selectively delete files on a CD-RW unless
you've used packet-writing software to format the disc
first. Do a Google search. You can however, erase the
entire disc and then write the new files to it. CD-R discs
may be written to until full at whhich point no more
writing or erasing is possible. CD-RWs may be used more
than once.

As far as the first part of your question is concerned, the "problem"
may lie in your CD writing software. What brand are you using?

The difference between CDR and CDRW is, CDR can only be written to
once, where CDRW can be written to more than once and it can also be
used as a drag and drop means of backing up etc. whatever you want.
Axel.
