Ok, winxp sp2, roxio basic 5.3.5.10 (latest upgade)
I put a cdrw in and it flashs for a few seconds then spits it back out.
And I have no recording tab on the properties from device manger.
Is my cdrw Lite-On 24102B-5GS3 fried?
There is no firmware upgrade from lite-on for this model.
There was problems with it even before the sp2 upgrade.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

You may have to upgrade to Roxio 6/7 and you may also have to locate the
upper/lower filter fix on Kelly's Korner patches.

If you had problems before, it's likely to be either CDRW drivers or, yes,
it's fried. Have you tried it using XP built-in CR write prog? Does it read
CD's (and download from them?) If drivers good, and answers no - it's
shopping day!

Sincerely, Len

with the lastest roxio patch, it should work with XP.

i'd try it on another pc, but my money is on replacement time.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yeah I've tried it with xp's writing tools too.
Funny, it'll take a cdr and not spit it out, but each program hangs and
freezes
when I try to record.
I've gone into the reg. to make sure the value was set to 2.
Also I've uninstalled roxio(creative)5-accordingly with their instructions-
and tryed it and still no dice.
But I can't find the upper and lower filter thing, I've found the number,
but no filters. So I tryed to delete the whole number but it wouldn't let
me.

Thanks again, I'll still keep a watch on this to see if anyone else has
anything.

btw I did find the recording tab. Open My Computer and right click the drive
and hit properties, and it's there. Instead of right clicking My Computer
and properties-device manager
-cdrom-liteon-properties.

O well....
