am trying to download a cd . Instructions say you must have either
Windows3.1 or higher, or Windows 95. I have Windows XP. Does this mean I
cannot download this cd in my computer. or what do I have to do, to get it
downloaded.

any help is appreciated.

Katie

You can always download the files. WinXP will download them just as well as
win 3.1 or win95.

What is this CD your trying to download ??

If you mean that you have a CD in your possession that contains programs,
one 'installs' them.. downloading is when one access' a remote computer to
obtain files..

It sounds like you have a games CD.. the programs on it may not run in XP as
any reference to Win 3.1 or Win 95 means that they are old games..

I presume by "download" that you mean install software from the CD.

If the software is for Windows 3.1 or 95, it may be ten years old.

It may install and run without any additional work. If not, try the Windows
95 compatibility mode. Go into the XP Help and Support Center (part of XP),
and search for "compatibility" (without the quotes). The first result should
be "getting older programs to run on Windows XP".

There may be other problems. For example: I had a CD from the Home Depot
that would not install unless I permitted it to install a really old version
of Apple Computer's QuickTime software (Windows version). Ultimately, I
discarded the CD.

Good luck.

well Windows XP is "higher" than Windows 3.1 that's for sure. What do you
mean "download a CD"??
