Have downloaded and installed (twice)
Q320174_WXP_SP1_x86_ENU.exe but still, every time I burn
something to disc, my kids WIN 95 machine won't even
recognise that a disc is in the drive, let alone what is
on it. I have tried both CDR and CDRW, but to no avail.
Help pleeeaaassseeeeeee

Hi
Only experience I've had with unreadable CD (Homemade) is
with the age of the reading CD player. Most 8X or slower
cannot read the homemade CDR's.A non CD recorder cannot
read a CDRW period.
Hope this helps
Brian Berry

Newer CD-ROMs can read homemade CDRs, and CDRWs with the help of UDF-READER.
Downloadable from both Roxio's and Ahead's homepages....

What have you tried to write it with? If with XP's own burning or one
of the 'mastering' packages - Nero or Easy CD, then any failure to read
on a different machine (unless the CD Drive there is *extremely* old),
is a matter of media used. CD-R dyes vary and the burner has to burn
just enough to get maximum contrast between 'on and off' and then the
reader has to be set to see somewhere in the middle of the resulting
range as indicating the change over. So try different brands of CD-R.
CD-RW may be a different matter - a drive to read those has to be
'Multiread' capable and there is a good chance the drive on a Win95
machine is not.

But older machine will not read disks burned with the InCD or DirectCD
facilities - like a big floppy, on a CD-RW, unless there is a udfread
program installed.
