CD Writer/DVD writer.

I have 5 Compaq computers in home! all have CD and DVD RW's they all won't
recognize blank disc's to write on. banner keeps comming up Insert a new
writable disc!!!!!!
This only happened when SP2 was installed last month! They all read
properly and all are ok in properties. but they all won"t recgonize blank
discs when I try to Burn anything!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check the properties of the CD Burner drive and click on the recording tab. If the
check mark to enable recording is checked, uncheck it and hit apply and then recheck
it and hit apply. If that doesn’t work see:

this happen to me too after SP2, because the update disabled my old Roxio's
Direct CD ver. 4. I downloaded and installed: DLA (Drive Letter Access) from
Sonic and it fixed it great.

I have the same trouble. The names of the various drives in My Computer do
not correspond to the
correct drive letter and does not match letters as found in Disc Management.
Disc Management will only allow changes to hard drive names. My E: drive is
the DVD/CD-RW Drive and has changed to MMC/SD for an unknown reason. I did a
Rescan Discs in Disc Manager with a SD in the "G" drive and was able to
access the SD card. I can not get my DVD/CD-RW to recognize a blank DVD-R
when making a DVD+R copy and wondered if this sysmtom is related.

Thanks for your advice. My re-write drives still don't recognize a blank
disc. Please help if you can!!!!! I write on my Microsoft software and
don't use a third party like roxico
