I have a windows xp sp2 on a Dell dimension 4300 and for the past little
while the cd burner would not burn but it would play. so after a few checks
everything was said to be working great but finally through the resource cd
it said the cd rom is working but the cd-rw write showed an error. A message
came up saying status code "Dos DDG-D Disk 193 026" " Device cannot be
accessed possibly medium not present" can some one tell me what to do?

Hi,

First, try a CD lens cleaner disk. These are commonly available at virtually
any store that sells CD's and audio equipment. It may simply be having
trouble reading due to a dirty lens - it doesn't take much dust to foul the
lens.

Hi Stacey,

Well, the bad news is that the drive may be dying. You might check for a
firmware update from the manufacturer, it may help.
