CD Rom will not work

I have had my Windows XP for over a year and this is a new problem. My CD-ROM
is now reading...running...nothing! In fact, if I put a CD in it, everything
locks up. I have to do a hard shut-down just to get the CD out! Then have to
reboot to get windows to realize there is not a CD in the drive. errr...what
to do?

Have you ran any virus checks or spyware yet? That would be my first
try. If you need to do an on line virus check, you can use Symantec,
Trendmicro(housecall), even Panda will help you out for a virus. For the
spyware you can try "Spybot Search and Destroy".

Let us know how things work out.
