Need a bit of help on this guys and gals. I have a
friend who can't install his Sims Deluxe on his Win XP
Pro machine. He is using original CD's to do the install.
Here is what happens: Starts the install, moves along
just fine. Prompted for second CD. Removes first CD and
puts second CD in. CD Rom is reading this second CD as if
the first one was never taken out.
Tried CD Burner to do install. Same result. Installed
just fine on different computer in the house.
Also noticed on programs that only had one disk for
install, after installing the program and removing the
disk, then putting a different program in to be installed
the CD rom was reading the disk as the one in which was
just removed. It seems as if the CD Rom is not refreshing
after removing a disc from it.
So what now? Drivers for CD Rom and Burner were
updated. Didn't do anything.

Thanxs Everyone

.
I when installing and removed first disk of install,
then inserted second, it told me that it was the wrong
disk. I then tried to use the second cr rom which the the
cd burner. I used my computer to browse to it. That
didn't work either, but I noticed that the my other drive
( the original install drive ) still said it contained
Sims when in fact it was empty and the door was closed.

Did you try in the same drive(1 st) more than once? Did you try leaving the
drive(1 st) empty for 60 seconds before inserting the 2nd CD? What happens
if CD1 is re-inserted at this point?

How did that not work exactly?

How long and under what circumstances did that first drive ever catch on to
the fact that SIMS CD1 was no longer in it?
