Hi

Are there any updated CDRom drivers for windows XP
Professional available from microsoft?

My computer reboots with error 102 when I copy files off
my CDRom. Tried using another CDrom with no results. I am
wondering if there are updated drivers.

Thanks

There aren't usually updated drivers for a CD ROM, but there is a way to
update the firmware and update your chipset drivers for the IDE
Controller. You may also want to try a different IDE cable if you have
one. Check with your motherboard maker's website to find out if there
are new drivers, a new BIOS update, what chipset the motherboard uses.
Then go to the chipset maker's website and download the latest drivers
there. I can help you with the links if you give me your motherboard
make and model ;)

Great thanks!

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA 8Ik1100 rev 1.0. I know
its got a Intel 875p chipset. I have downloaded updated
motherboard drivers from gigabyte, but did not get
anything from intel yet. Do you know any links for them?

Thanks

Got a nice group of links for you :)

Updated BIOS (this is BIOS version F10):

Read this on how to flash your BIOS:
http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Support/BIOS/HowToReflash/pdf/flashbios_qflash.pdf

Here is the most recent chipset drivers for you:
ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-support/7484/eng/infinst_enu.exe

Finally, check here for your CD-ROM drive and see if there is a newer
firmware for it:

Hope that helps fix the problem. You can also try enabling or disabling
DMA Mode for your CDROM. Click Start-Run-Type devmgmt.msc and click OK.
Now expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, right click on each IDE Channel
(should be 4 of them I think) and click Properties (one at a time doing
this). Now go to the advanced settings and set it to DMA if available.
Reboot and see if that fixes it.
