I hope I'm in the right newsgroup, as I've never
posted before. I have an HP Pavilion 7900series desktop PC
with Windows XP SP 2. I have the hp cd writer by Mitsumi,
& Roxio engine. The writer is , I believe; Adaptec Easy
Creator A. A few days ago, the program stopped
working.I've never had a problem before, with either
reading or writing to CD's.The drive is getting power, &
shows up in Windows Explorer, but when I insert a CD, I
get the Wizard message saying there's no media in the
drive. I've been able to check the zcd's on other PC's &
they are OK. HP recommends doing a non-destructive System
Restore , but I've done one before & would prefer a root
canal. Thanks for any advice or solutions you might have .

Swap the CD driver with another in a different system.. Does the CD Drive
work in that other system?

Uninstall the CD Drive in Device Manager, reboot, let windows reinstall..
Does that help?
