CD Rom audio cable.

Hi:

I am installing a MB with built in audio and I donot see any place on the
board to connect the audio cable from the CD Rom, or is it needed.

The audio cable is not needed. This cable allows you to play an Audio CD
directly from your CD-ROM while bypassing your system. It takes the analog
signal and inputs it directly to your audio output. It's essentially the
same as if you were to connect an audio device to your input on the sound
card.

If this is a need you have, you'll need the cable. Otherwise, you'll do
fine without it. If your board does not have the input, then you cannot,
obviously, do this.
 
If you are having the sound played back "digitally", then you do not need
that cable. If you want the sound played back in "analog" (ie: stereo radio
style) then you may need it.
