CD-R/W no longer recognizes blank CDs in Windows XP

Since re-installing Windows XP in a dual boot system, it no
longer recognizes blank CDs in the CD-R/W drive, but the
same drive works fine in Linux. It reads fine in Windows.
I've tried re-installing Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.1 Basic
and if I remember right, I re-installed the whole OS once.
I don't know if I have a corrupted driver or what? When I
insert a blank CD, there is a brief icon of a CD and then
nothing. Then, when I click on the drive, it says 'please
insert a disk in Drive D'. At one point, it was telling me
it was the wrong type of disk for the drive, but this was
also false, as I had used that same disk type many times
before.

work. The registry was already correct and should be in
the read/write mode. I don't know what is going on.
.
Well, it turned out to be the burning software, Easy CD
Creator, and when I installed Nero CD Burner instead it
worked fine. I decided to try it when Linux told me that
there was either no or built-in driver for the CD R/W. So,
since it was working fine in Linux I knew the only
difference remaining was the burning software.

Thanks for posting back, this may assist someone else with the same problem.
