CD formatting question...

I use CD Creator on my XPHE Dell notebook....and I like to use the "drag and
drop" formatting for many of my CD's (being able to drag things from my hard
drive onto the CD etc.). However, I've noticed that when I use a CD-RW, it
takes forever to format (a half hour or more) but with a standard CD, CD
Creator will format it in seconds. I don't recall having this issue with
Windows 98. Is this something associated with XP or has the issue always
been there and I just discovered it?

Thanks
Barry

It does take extremely long time to format a rewritable depending on the
speed or your drive. 20 minute is not to long.

Did you ever consider reading the instructions? A
"standard" CD (and by this I presume that you mean a CD-R)
does not get formatted. The function you are referring to,
I have just learned, is the latest Roxio implementation of
packet writing, which allows for a CD-RW to be used like
a floppy. And yes, it takes a while to do the formatting,
and it was *not* significantly faster on your old 98
system.

Note: Some packet-writing programs will allow CD-Rs to be
formatted for packet writing, others will not.
