I don't know if there is a connection, but this problem just arose, after I
installed the newest critical updates for Windows XP (Home Edition).
Anyway, I have a DVD drive and a CD Burner on my system. It has just
stopped recognizing either drive. When I go into Device manager I get the
message:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
If I try to troubleshoot all I'm told to do is to uninstall and reinstall
using add hardware - it didn't work. Reseating the cables didn't work and
restoring to a prior setting using system restore didn't work..
Any idea what the problem or, more important, what the solution may be?
TIA
